Each year the Glass Academy celebrates the winter season with unique glass creations designed and fabricated by the designers of the Glass Academy; Michelle Plucinsky, Chris Nordin and Jacob Nordin.

Many of these items have become collectible over the years such as the signature Michigan Icicle™. It all started with artist Chris Nordin as he was working with the glass to create a winter icicle for a sculpture project. Chris commented how the icicle reminded him of happy memories of playing with icicles as a child growing up in Sterling Heights, MI.

“When we were kids, my brothers and I would spend endless hours finding icicles and pretending we were Nordic Vikings, fighting battles with imaginary swords (icicles) and snow forts that we made. I think everyone growing up in Michigan played with icicles at some point, and the Michigan Icicle™ is a fond memory of growing up in Michigan.”
