CLASS EXPERIENCE: Breath of Michigan

Join the Glass Academy in our mission to create the largest display of hand-blown glass objects in our gallery!

This class experience resulted in us achieving a Guinness World Records™ record title in July 2022!

To create your bubbles, you will utilize glass from our recycled tank. The glass in our recycled tank consists of glass scraps generated during our daily production for the gallery. While these scraps come in various colors, only one color remains when they are melted down: a breathtaking soft blue hue!

By participating in this class, you will contribute two hand-blown glass bubble to a remarkable permanent sculpture. This sculpture will be on display in our soon-to-be-established event space, the Michigan Room!

We offer a $12 guest ticket which must be purchased if you'd like to bring a guest to watch your class, or if you don't want to make a product, but would like to watch the class from the "audience". Everyone in attendance MUST purchase either a class ticket or a guest ticket. This allows us to prepare the space accordingly. When purchasing a guest ticket, please put the desired class date and time in the notes.

YOUR CLASS TICKET PURCHASE INCLUDES...

• The materials, tools, and instruction to make TWO glass bubbles per class ticket. You will not be taking home your own bubbles. You will get to take home one bubble, made in a previous class, as a souvenir. We will keep the bubbles you made, and add them to our Michigan Room sculpture.
• A live glassblowing demonstration from one of our class instructors. 
• A behind-the-scenes tour of our glass studio and Batch Gallery, where you’ll learn more about our successful working art studio and the glass-making process.
• A coupon for 20% off all items in our gallery. This coupon can only be used on the day of your class or the day when you pick up your class product (if you choose to pick up your finished product in-person).

RULES & WHAT TO EXPECT

• You must be at least 16 years old to participate in our classes. However, those under 16 years old are welcome to purchase a guest ticket and watch the class.
• Closed-toed shoes are required and we suggest that you wear cotton, as it will be hot in the shop.
• Please arrive 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork, meet the other students, and browse the gallery.
• Classes are typically 1 to 1.5 hours long. However, the duration may vary depending on the intensity of the project and class size.
• This is an entry-level class. No prior experience is necessary!
