Stawberry Delight
In this scrumptious hands-on class, you will be invited to make a large, solid glass strawberry! The body of the strawberry is crafted using an optical mold, creating perfect air pockets that look like seeds. From there, a layer of clear glass is added, and to complete the design, the stem.
Explore your creative side in this stress-free glassblowing glass. No two strawberries will look alike. You can customize the design with your color choices (remember, not all strawberries are red!) and with how you pull the green stem over the actual berry!
Meditation Globe
In this class, you will create your very own Meditation Globe. You will first select the Twisties you would like to use for color, and can further customize your globe with glitter glass, bubble traps, spirals, or a twisted-in design! A second dip into the furnace (aka "a gather"), will encase the inner layer of color with molten glass. Finally, using a specialized tool known as the block, you'll meticulously shape and smooth the glass to achieve the perfect rounded orb. Many find the experience to be truly meditative, providing a serene and tranquil atmosphere from start to finish.
Garden Reed
The Garden Reed is a low-stress, personal, and immersive class designed by the founders of the Glass Academy. The reed is about 8 to 10 inches long, with your choice of a twisted, wavy, curled, or straight stem. Get creative! In this class, you will experiment with a variety of tools. If you want to create ridges, bumps, and texture, you'll use a mold. For a smooth round finish, you'll use a marver. From there, you can twist, pull, or stretch the reed to your desired shape, giving it character and style!
Glass Heart
In this unique experience, by the ambiance of the glowing furnaces, you'll turn a gather of molten glass into a dazzling keepsake mosaic heart! With our expert instructors, you'll melt colorful glass fragments of your choosing into a gather of molten glass. Then you'll mold the glass into the heart shape.
ERO ~ A Glass Hangabout for Plants
Imagine molding molten glass into a mesmerizing round orb, adorned with stripes in lively hues. With our specially-designed tools, we'll help you transform a glob of glass into a charming home for your plants.
We provide the hanging cord and a gorgeous air plant with your class purchase. Let your imagination soar and your plants thrive in the playful, vibrant world of glass art!
Sporella Mushroom Garden Accent
This one-of-a-kind glass sculpture stands 3 to 4 inches tall and features a mosaic of vibrant colors. With a little pushing, twisting, and shaping, you can give your mushroom any look you desire to make it truly YOURS.
Adding to its charm, each Sporella Mushroom™ features a hollow stem, allowing you to "plant" it using a special wooden stake (included with the purchase of this class). The Sporella Mushroom™ will make for a FUN(gi) addition to your garden or potted plant!
Michigan Icicle Ornament
The Michigan Icicle™ is one of our most popular class experiences in the Dearborn studio. As each student works with our instructors, you'll witness every 'blob' of molten glass transform into a stunning icicle. Utilizing specialized tools, gravity, and creative insight, you'll skillfully snip, pull, and stretch the molten glass 'blob' into its distinctive icicle shape. While adding a touch of white 'snow' to the molten glass surface is optional, it is often preferred to enhance the icicle's charm. To finish the icicle, our talented craftsmen will attach a glass loop at the top of the icicle for hanging.
Fancy Glass Ring Holder
Each ring holder is one-of-a-kind. The pictured samples come from our test run in blue; when you join the class, you will find a rainbow of colors to choose from. You will also discover a selection of the best ways to apply your chosen colors. This colorful piece is super fun to make, and you'll get to experience using the big torch to stretch the glass to your desired size!
Mini Pumpkin
In this seasonal mini workshop, you’ll shape molten glass into a beautifully rounded, solid glass pumpkin—complete with vibrant stripes, a curled stem, and rich fall colors. This finished pumpkin is about 3" in size and made of solid glass.
