Join us inside the Glass Academy's Michigan Room as we celebrate the rich traditions of tequila through craft cocktails, storytelling, and live artistry. Your evening begins with local cocktail historian Beth Vandergrift, who will guide you through creating an exclusive signature tequila cocktail designed especially for this event. Along the way, you'll discover why tequila has become one of the world's most celebrated spirits—known for its smooth finish, peppery notes, earthy character, and remarkable versatility.

Cocktail in hand, you'll step into our 2,100-degree Hot Shop for an up-close live glass blowing demonstration, where our artists will transform molten glass into one of the handcrafted cocktail glasses featured during the class. Feel the heat, hear the roar of the furnaces, and experience the excitement that has made Glass Academy one of Michigan's premier destinations for glass art.

The evening continues back in the Michigan Room as you create the classic Paloma, while Beth shares the history, culture, and craftsmanship behind Mexico's iconic spirit. Whether you're a tequila enthusiast, cocktail lover, or simply looking for a memorable Detroit date night, you'll leave with new recipes, fascinating stories, and a deeper appreciation for both handcrafted cocktails and handcrafted glass.

🕔 Class begins at 6pm
Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in with the host and enjoy the atmosphere.

RULES & WHAT TO EXPECT

• You must be at least 21 years old to attend, IDs will be checked.
• Dress accordingly as our warehouse is cold in the winter, (we recommend bringing an extra layer), and warm in the spring and summer, (sandels are permitted). 
• This cocktail class is designed to run 2 1/2 hours. There will be glass blowing classes happening simultaneously with the cocktail class, so you might get a peek at those before your demo.
• There will be light snacks provided. You are welcome to bring in food if you want something more substantial.
• There is ample free parking on Trowbridge St. in front of our building, as well as overflow parking on S. Gulley road right around the corner.
