Once upon a time in a land far North of Everytown, lived two extra Creative Humans who worked with glass. They learned to heat glass very hot until it melted like a snowman in the summer sun. Once it was liquid, they would bend and twist the glass making all sorts of pretty sticks to hang around their forest home. They started naming these glass rods all sorts of funny sounding names like “Filigree” and “Ghiaccio” but no one could understand what they were saying or what to do with the glass until one day they made a small bend at the top and called it a cane. It looked so sweet that all the town’s people thought it was candy and always asked the elves to get them the beautiful candy canes from the forest glass artists. They were only made at a certain time of year, certain colors each season and limited quantities. The Creative Humans made the glass special for all the elves of the land and it looks like you’re lucky enough to have one of them! Congratulations!! Be sure to hang it somewhere special where the light can twinkle thru them showing off their brilliance.
“People of all ages come to see our amazing display of glass during this festive season because it’s just so beautiful and fun! We have the largest selection of round glass ornaments, fanciful candy canes with all sorts of unique patterns in them, and best of all, we show the customer how we made the shapes and colors in the glass.” Notes Michelle Plucinsky, co-owner of the Glass Academy. “We really like to get into the spirit of things by creating new products like our boxed glass packages and the knobby kneed ‘Rudolph’ we’ll feature this year. Every year our customers come back wanting more!! Our facebook fans even comment on the shows, “I absolutely love watching the process, so fascinating!” Commented Marie Malfitano on a recent post.
During the show patrons can also expect to see commissioned glassware being made. “The glassblowers are very exciting to watch!” exclaims Bill McMurtry the torchwork instructor at the Glass Academy. “At the event people can custom tailor their own snowman or the new ‘wrapped package’ with their favorite colors and watch it made in front of them. Taking pictures during the process adds to the value of the custom order. Customers love that!”
This year’s featured product is the Candy Cane. “We’ll have over 30 different patterns and colors this season to match everyone’s holiday décor, and then some!” Exclaims Lindsay Wagner, the display specialist of the studio. “Our candy cane display is sure to grab your attention and our affordable pricing makes buying Michigan Made easy and done in one stop shopping.”
Special displays will be set up in the studio as well like the new ‘White Elephant’ gift table and the ‘Ornament Exchange’ display. These are some quirky, ready to go gifts that you can grab as a last minute party favor or hostess gift. Prepackaged and ready to go makes holiday shopping both easy and fun at the Glass Academy!!
Seasonal Holiday hours will be in place during the month of December so customers can continue to purchase giftware for the Holidays in addition to gift certificates, classes, and hand’s on experiences, which make for great gifts as well.
