DEARBORN, MI –(March 14, 2017)- The Glass Academy (25331 Trowbridge, Dearborn, MI 48124) presents its 7th annual “Glass Eggstravaganza” show and sale in 2018 from 10AM-5PM. (with free street parking). This is a feel-good, all-ages, spring-themed event that gets everyone excited about glassblowing as they watch live demonstrations in the studio all day during the show.
BRAND NEW!! This year the Glass Academy introduces their adorable glass rabbit in two different styles. Rabbits are a symbol of spring, but this playful and stylish one-of-a-kind critter can and will be enjoyed year-round in any setting.
This show features our signature Glassy Chicks: a variety of stylized, festively colored glass birds. We also have striped, spotted, and speckled glass eggs, as well as the classic Nest Bowl- a Glass Academy original keepsake item. All glass on display will be available for purchase; custom orders are accepted and created during the show, with our talented craftsmen describing the glassmaking process in the hot shop.
Each of the Glassy Chicks has a tag with its name and a special birth certificate from the day it was ‘born.’ They stand on thin metal legs, peeking curiously with traditional Murinni eyes, and come in three sizes with either a matte or glossy finish. “They have tons of personality,” comments Master Glass Artist Chris Nordin and Co-Owner of the Glass Academy. “When we craft the birds they take on a life of their own, and have such character that we decided to name each one.”
Thursday, kicks off the Eggstravaganza with a $50 ticketed preview party from 6-9pm. “This is a great way to shop first picks of new colors and styles, get personalized attention, and a special limited edition surprise from the studio,” explains Judy Elmore, the staff event manager. Tickets can be purchased online, at the studio, or via phone (313-561-4527).
Lenora, the display specialist at the Glass Academy raves, “The colors this year are just gorgeous! The [limited edition] copper-blue of the eggs and nest bowls just reflect vibrant spring skies, while the Glassy Chicks embody the pure essence of spring colors.” And Logan, one of the glassblowers, says, “Our demonstrations make this a great way to spend time with the family, watching and getting educated on glassblowing, then shopping the gallery to pick a seasonal favorite to bring home. This will be an eggcellent way to spend your weekend!”
