Energetic and creative, those were my requirements when looking for a part time job when retiring from 18 years of banking. This is exactly what I found when I was hired at The Glass Academy.
I saw a Groupon for a glass blowing class. Then I got a couple friends together and we were off to make a Great Lakes Icicle at The Glass Academy in Dearborn. When we got there the atmosphere was friendly and crackling with excitement. We all really enjoyed our class, so I signed up for their eNews and Facebook page.
About a month later I saw an office job ad on The Glass Academy Facebook page. So, I thought ,”Why not?” and I put in my application. After my interview with Michelle, I knew this was the friendly, energetic and creative place I was looking for. Now, here I am the office assistant. My main job is dealing with class registration. If you call The Glass Academy you will most likely talk with me. My job also allows me to handle and schedule events and do some of the gallery work.
I really enjoy watching the students’ faces when they pick up their work from class. They are amazed at the object they have created from the molten glass. But, the best part of the job is getting to work with and watch these amazing artists create beautiful pieces of glass.
