Sculpt your own icicle shaped ornament in the hot shop and also form a glass bead at the torch. In this Holiday feature class, students will work with two different forms of glass instruction. One will take place in the hot shop where students will manipulate 100% recycled hot glass into a decorative icicle shape for a unique holiday ornament. The instructor will apply the glass loop for hanging and place into the annealer to ‘cure’ overnight. The second glass item will happen over in the torchwork area of the studio where students will twirl molten glass around a steel rod to craft a small basic bead. Ornaments and beads will be available for pick up one week after the class.

To insure the best experience the class will start promptly at the scheduled time. Doors open 15 minutes before the class start time, allowing you ample time to fill out registration forms and get settled in.

You are not required to stay the full 3 ½ hours. If your projects are done you are welcome to leave. However, we do encourage you to stay and watch other students or take your time to shop in our private gallery. Guided tours will take place during the last half of the class for students who are interested in learning more about the Glass Academy, which costs an additional $5.

You must be 16 years of age with a signed parent consent form or 18 years or older to take this class.  If you need to reschedule a Groupon class date there is a $10 fee and you must reschedule by calling the studio at 313-561-4527.
