In this new fun loving class, two instructors will show you the bells and whistles on how to blow glass with one quick demo and then it's your turn. Once you dip the pipe and blow the "Big Bubble," you will be guided and taught how to make something that you can actually take home for keeps. For this class we'll be making a colored swirled paperweight with bubbles, air pockets, and cosmic dust that is made from earthly materials.

This is a great class to take with friends or loved ones as each of you will create something truly original and not like the others!

To insure the best experience please be here 15 minutes before your scheduled time.  Doors open 15 minutes before the class start time, allowing you ample time to fill out registration forms and get settled in.  We want to make sure that everyone has an amazing time and is not rushed so classes may start a little later than their scheduled time and run longer.  So that you can enjoy your class, expect to be with us a couple hours just in case.

Your actual hands on participation will be one full hour; however, we encourage you to hang out in the studio, shop in the gallery, and take a tour with our guide. Guided

tours will take place during the last half of the class for students who are interested in learning more about the Glass Academy, which costs an additional $5.

When: Class dates start in March and will run on Friday evenings and Saturdays with two Wednesday dates in May.

Where: The Glass Academy

Who: Must be 16 years of age with parent consent form or 18 years or older to take this class. If you need to reschedule a Groupon class date there is a $10 fee and you must reschedule by calling the studio at 313-561-4527. The Glass Academy reserves the right to cancel a time slot if it does not meet the minimum number of people. If this happens you will be rescheduled to another time slot free of charge.

Pick Up:  Your paperweight must cool in the annealer and will be ready for you to pick up one week after your class date during our normal gallery hours.  We will hold onto all student artwork for 30 days from your class date and then it will no longer be available.
