Let our glassblowers fire up your very own event at the Glass Academy. Our 14,000 square foot studio is available for rent all year round for groups of 5 to 500. We can customize any event to your needs and budget and offer a unique setting that will get people talking.
Our glassblowers are trained to educate, engage, and entertain the public through glassblowing demonstrations, hands on events, and tidbits of historic and scientific facts about glass. Learn about the history of glassblowing while being treated to the making of art right before your eyes. Our artists will explain the process, the color applications, technical skills and more. Or, if you just want a more laid back approach, we will demonstrate the process during your event so customers can watch at their leisure.
Basic Cost and Studio Rental Prices
Facility rental and staffing for event – $300 per hour (minimum 3 hours). This includes 1 gallery staff, 1 emcee to host event, and 2 glassblowers. Set up and tear down of event – $75 per hour.
Catering
We are happy to refer reputable businesses in the Dearborn area to cater your event once we know more of your needs and event theme.
Liquor
A private party is not required to obtain a liquor license. Any event that tickets are being sold at, or an event that is open to the public, does need to provide their liquor license in advance. If not provided, all rental monies will be forfeited. At the time of the event the license must be posted by the door.
Tables & Decorations
We strongly suggest going with a catering company to set up tables and cloths, stemware, serving plates, etc. using your color and theme.? The tables we have in the studio are used for display and classes and might not be available during your event.
Set-Up and Tear Down of Event
You are responsible for setting up before the event and cleaning up after the event. All trash must be taken out to the dumpster and decorations removed or your security deposit will be forfeited.
Payment
50% of the total event cost is due upon receipt of your contract along with a $500 security deposit. Your security deposit will be returned one week after the event is held following a walk through of the studio. Payment is due in full 2 weeks prior to your event and highly suggested at least one month in advance for larger events.
