The Art of Spring

Stay tuned for more information on our 2013 spring show named “The Art of Spring”. The weekend exhibit and sale will feature a colorful variety of bird and flower glass sculptures, vases, magnets as well as the demonstration and sale of “glass memory” wood engravings. The uniquely etched wood pieces are available in a variety of shapes and sizes for use as coasters, table runners, wall hangings and other décor.

“Each year we look forward to creating something different, yet affordable, for our patrons—to purchase as collectibles or as gifts for friends and family,” said Chris Nordin, glass design artist and co-owner of the Glass Academy. “For glass art enthusiasts and collectors, April is also Michigan Glass Month.”

There is no admission to attend. Several museum quality pieces produced by Furnace Design Studio, which is housed within the Glass Academy building, will also be available for viewing and purchase in a separate display area.

The intricate designs that they made, just like shaping clouds in a midnight sky, absolutely blew my mind. How they could make small glass horses was beautiful. Glass has ‘rockability.’

I was the winner of a hand crafted smoothie glass when my name was choosen at the Veg Fest. Not only did I get to pick out my own glass at the studio but I also get to take it to Red Pepper Deli so they can fill it up with my favorite smoothie. I choose an awesome blue and orange glass for the Tigers! Thank you Glass Academy.

I love your Academy! I experienced the molten glass class, made a flower, and it’s the pride and joy item I show off in my home! I have attended many of your events and think the studio is a ‘must see’ adventure for any out of towner, or locals who weren’t aware of your location.

The instructors were great and personable, very helpful and knowledgeable. I can’t think of anything I’d change. This class was A LOT of fun and I look forward to returning soon.

Chris and his staff create the most incredible hand crafted glass works of art that your eyes have ever seen. I addition, he offers many sessions which not only create, but also educate so that you can learn what goes into making beautifully unique pieces. Do yourself a favor and check out their schedule on line, then GO and see for yourself. I promise, you will be amazed!

The glassblowing trip was fun because they showed the properties of glass, states New Morning Middle School science student.

I wanted to let you know how beautiful the awards are that you produced for the Dancing with the Stars event. So many people commented on the design of these pieces. It’s been great working with both of you and look forward to future projects.
