The Glass Academy presents live glassblowing with eggs!
“Glass eggstravaganza” show and sale takes place March 9th and 10th from 10am-4pm in Dearborn. Featuring live glassblowing demonstrations and a gallery full of solid glass eggs, delicate blown nests, and whimsical glass birds to celebrate the Easter/ Spring season.
‘Glass eggstravaganza’ was born from ongoing customer requests for customized, colorful glass eggs, blown hollow or solid, and matching nests for them to sit in. Artist Michelle Plucinsky explains, “So many people love our work and the Easter/Spring season is a great way for customers to fill their homes with beautiful color and the glistening effects of blown glass. The glass eggs are just a start for any collection. We offer beautiful nests, spring birds and all our traditional studio favorites at this show.
“Absolutely charming!” Exclaims Melissa Byle, the gallery coordinator at the Glass Academy. When asked to describe the glass birds called ‘Vetro Chicks’, Melissa states; “They are a studio original sculpture of a blown glass bird with a 50’s Italian look, some even have metal legs attached. Each has its own character and qualities and you’re just drawn to them to find the one that represents you the best! I can see a family wanting the Momma, Poppa, and all sorts of baby chickadees!”
Each item at the show is individually hand sculpted using traditional glass crafting techniques and the studio’s Master glassblowers will be performing live glassblowing demonstrations during the show both days from 10-4pm. “The fact that you can custom design work and see it made in front of your eyes is spectacular! The Glass Academy has so much skill and talent; we are so proud they are here in Dearborn educating and entertaining audiences statewide,” comments Jennifer Giering, president of the Dearborn Area Chamber.
Be sure to come early to get the best pick of eggs for your basket along with nests and birds for your shelves. Quantities are limited and once we’re sold out we won’t be making more until next year. The show runs from 10am until 4pm both days in the Dearborn studio residing at 25331 Trowbridge, Dearborn MI 48124. All works are for sale with pricing starting at $25 for the small eggs. Custom orders accepted, Visa and MasterCard honored. This is an all ages, free parking show.
