Leading the Green trend: The Glass Academy in Dearborn Provides a One-Stop-Source for Holiday Shoppers

Dearborn, MI – October 9, 2008 -

Red and GREEN are truly the season’s colors at December 6th and 7th’s, Holiday Bazaar weekend show. Webster’s definition of Bazaar, “a market consisting of rows of stalls selling miscellaneous goods,” is expanded upon by The Glass Academy of Dearborn, who have added the following criteria for the show in its second year, “the artists from varied media are all Michigan-based sellers and through their work, express beauty and eco-sustainability.”

Some of the merchants invited to sell their wares have invented new functional uses for road atlases, antique plates and the average ceramic sculpture. It’s a sure thing that variety offers a price point for every pocketbook, and increases the odds of finding gift for the person who has everything, at Holiday Bazaar.  This is a great way to BUY LOCAL and support the Michigan economy.

Shopping is accessible on one floor and open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on both Sat. and Sun. There is also the opportunity to meet with glass artists to have a custom piece created in person. Newcomers and Glass aficionados alike are mesmerized by the taming of molten glass and enjoy the personal flare that accompanies every Glass Academy Gallery show.

The Glass Academy is located in Dearborn’s own Art District on 25531 Trowbridge just off of Gulley and South of Michigan Ave. With no fee for parking, and a door charge of $3 for persons 17+ this event embodies holiday cheer,

“We’ll have ambient caroling, Santa for the kids, coffee, cocoa, cookies, family and friends—as far as the chestnuts o’er open fire goes– there’ll be chestnut-free-fire in the furnaces blazing at 2100 degrees for live demonstrations and cozy temperatures for our guests”.

Glass Academy is a state-certified institution that encourages all to “Explore Your Creativity,” according to the company tagline. The school provides hands on instruction and the resources for artists to make a living at what they love. Hot blown glass, stained glass, bead working, slumping and fusing, neon and embroidery are the curriculum offered in the 2008 course catalogue. Interested parties can enroll in a degree program or attend a one-day sampler to get their feet wet; how’s that for versatility?
