Heirloom gifts Made in Michigan- Sold in Michigan

Dearborn, MI- November 10, 2008

This season you can shop locally and purchase handcrafted, made in Michigan, luxurious treasures from local businesses.  One of the greatest ways to do this will be at the Glass Academy’s “Holiday Bazaar” taking place in Dearborn’s Art District featuring over 15 local craftsman and artists.

On December 6th and 7th, the Glass Academy, located at 25331 Trowbridge in Dearborn, will open it’s doors to the public showcasing the season’s hottest talents with some very affordable items for your gift giving pleasure.

This season’s lineup will host an exquisite collection of over 15 Metro Detroit Artists.  The backbone of the show is the FURNACE Design Studio, which will feature their collectable glass ornaments as well as a new assortment of treasured gift items.  Other artists include Melissa Anderson of Anderson Design, who will showcase her original design gift tags and stationary, while Phyllis Moga of ‘Old Dog, New Tricks’ will be setting the stage her for her reclaimed/recycled tableware to be the hottest ‘green’ gift item of the season.

Doors open at 10am with admission $3 for adults, $2 for seniors, and kids under 12 are free.  Demonstrations of glassblowing, neon, and torch work, will be happening throughout the day making this a family friendly shopping experience as well as a brief education in the glass arts.

Owner Michelle Plucinsky is looking to unite similar interests with this show by inviting local businesses to join in by advertising special coupons in the weekend’s program.  She states; “We have invited many of the area businesses who would share a similar clientele to place an ad or coupon in our program so that we can encourage shoppers to stay in Dearborn and shop for all their holiday needs.  From food, to wine, to professional services, Dearborn has a lot to offer”.

Dearborn’s own Mayor Jack O’Reilly will also be supporting this city business by playing Santa from 2-4pm on Saturday December 6th.  Parents are encouraged to stop by and get a photo opportunity while enjoying the show.

Show hours are 10am to 4pm both Saturday and Sunday with free parking on the street and corner lot.  For more information, please call the studio at 313.561.4527 or visit the website at www.glassacademy.com
